If you’re about to buy a property in Hackney you’ll want to ensure that you enter the transaction with your eyes open. It’s considered reasonable for a buyer to renegotiate the price that they’re paying, sometimes by many thousands of pounds, if an issue is discovered that a layperson would not be aware of but that can only happen if you commission a detailed survey from one of our RICS qualified experienced surveyors.
We offer both RICS Level 2 (Homebuyer) and Level 3 (Building Survey) Reports and can advise on which will best suit your needs. Following the inspection, your surveyor will make themselves available to discuss the contents and provide any clarification required.
Below you will find links to the hundreds of positive reviews we’ve received from owners who’ve commissioned surveys from us on properties in and around Hackney. Call today to take advantage of our expertise.
Our Chartered Surveyor, Nick Bridger, recently undertook a Level 2 – Homebuyer Report on behalf of repeat clients in Hackney, a short distance from Hackney Central train station. The property to be surveyed was a 3 bedroom flat set across the second floor of an old factory conversion. The property retained many of its existing features which were in need of some maintenance and upgrading. The original sash windows in particular were in need of maintenance as the sash cords were broken and required replacing.
The client was grateful for the advice as they were not aware of the costs involved in overhauling multiple sash windows and commented that “Nick was a great help to us throughout this process and we were pleased to be able to use him for a second time. He explained things clearly so we are lay people were able to fully understand the implications”.

The retail centre of the area is Mare Street where you’ll find many familiar high street names as well as Mare Street Market which opened in 2018 and quickly became a favourite with East London folk. Located in what was previously a council office block, the market covers an area of 10,000 square feet and houses several restaurants as well as a record shop, florist, bakery and a delicatessen. Mare Street is also where you’ll find Hackney Empire, the area’s famous Edwardian theatre, which puts on the capital’s best pantomime every Christmas.
Hackney falls into Zone 2 of London’s transport network and although it does not have an underground station it is well-connected with the Overground, trains and buses. The Overground connects to the Victoria Line at Highbury & Islington and the Central and Jubilee Lines at Stratford.
