Stratford is perhaps best known these days as the location of the vast shopping centre known as Westfield. Opened in September 2011, it covers an area of just under 2 million square feet and includes anchor stores for some of the country’s largest retailers as well as a cinema and several restaurants.
Development in the area continues apace with the ‘MSG Sphere’ having recently been given planning approval. The Sphere is a high tech 3,000 seat music and entertainment venue which promises ‘targeted, spatialized sound that is consistent in volume and quality across all seats’. We look forward to seeing the Beatles avatars perform there in 2030.
As you would expect, the area’s transport links are superior having been upgraded in line with the development around the 2012 Olympics. The multi-level station is one of the busiest in the country servicing the London Underground, Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and London Overground as well as a National Rail station which connects with Liverpool Street.
