Recent Activity in Bow E3

One of our Associate Directors, Matthew Price, acted as the adjoining owner’s surveyor on a project just to the north of Mile End Park in Bow where the building owner had recently served notice under the provisions of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996. The proposals included a basement extension.

The adjoining owner, who had previously extended into his own basement, was unaware that he would be due a payment when the building owner made use of the underpinning that was constructed at his expense. The payment was agreed between the surveyors and would become due when the use was made.

The adjoining owner was also made aware of his right to request security for expenses in accordance with section 12 of the Act (essentially pot of money set aside for the work to be complete in the event that the works were not completed). An appropriate figure was agreed by the surveyors, providing the adjoining owner with peace of mind during the works.

About Bow

Located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Bow is a residential area in the East End of London.
