Party Wall Advice for Owners of Properties in Wimbledon

Our team of specialist party wall surveyors have been advising owners in Wimbledon for decades. Whether we are dealing with an extension that incorporates a wall at the boundary or a loft conversion with a rear dormer, our focus is on finding a fair balance between the building owner’s desire to complete their works as quickly as possible and the need to minimise risk and inconvenience to adjoining owners.

The process starts with the owner who is proposing to undertake work falling within the scope of the Act notifying any affected adjoining owners. Owners can prepare their own notices, but as they must include certain specific information and be served in a particular way, we’re often asked to do that for them.

Below you will find links to the hundreds of positive reviews we’ve received from both building owners and adjoining owners in and around Wimbledon. Call today to take advantage of our expertise.

Recent Activity in Wimbledon SW19

In the leafy outskirts of the city, a building owner intending to construct a side extension approached Peter Barry Surveyors with narrow timelines, needing to start works in two weeks.

One of our Assistant Surveyors, Callum Escott, handled the day to day matters on the file. He explained to the building owner that the works were of low risk, being set back by close to the 3 metre range for which notices are required to be served under section 6(1) of the Act.

Callum spoke to the adjoining owner and explained the same, and that they could still appoint a surveyor later in the unlikely event damage was caused to their property.

The adjoining owner consented to the works with a schedule of condition which was undertaken within days. The works proceeded without the process causing delay. The building owner thanked Callum in an online review, recommending him for good communication and prompt work.

About Wimbledon

The district known as Hackney covers most of the borough with which it shares a name and sits between Dalston to the west and Homerton to the east.

The retail centre of the area is Mare Street where you’ll find many familiar high street names as well as Mare Street Market which opened in 2018 and quickly became a favourite with East London folk. Located in what was previously a council office block, the market covers an area of 10,000 square feet and houses several restaurants as well as a record shop, florist, bakery and a delicatessen. Mare Street is also where you’ll find Hackney Empire, the area’s famous Edwardian theatre, which puts on the capital’s best pantomime every Christmas.

Hackney falls into Zone 2 of London’s transport network and although it does not have an underground station it is well-connected with the Overground, trains and buses. The Overground connects to the Victoria Line at Highbury & Islington and the Central and Jubilee Lines at Stratford.

Callum was great at the onset dealing with my party wall requirements with my two neighbours. He was very supportive and clearly explained the process step by step. He was easily contactable and answered my queries with great understanding. He was very accommodating by attending conference calls with the constructor and also via email. Overall the process was seamless and party wall awards were completed in quick time. Thank you Callum. Trusted and recommended.
