Our team of surveyors are passionate about inspecting properties in Wimbledon whether it be as part of a pre-purchase survey, to establish a property’s value or to prepare a schedule of condition prior to works commencing next door.
If you are planning a building project in Wimbledon you’ve probably started thinking about party wall procedures. The first step is to establish whether the works fall within the scope of the Act – if you’d like us to do that for you, free of charge, just send us copies of the drawings and we’ll normally come back to you within 24 hours. If you’re on the other side of the wall, we can also assist if you’ve decided that you need to appoint a surveyor or just need some initial advice without obligation.
To the west of Wimbledon town centre, a pleasantly kept tree lined street of residential Edwardian houses subject to numerous extension and alteration works within the last few years saw another project undertaken towards the end of 2022. The owner who engaged our services intended to undertake a full scheme of renovation works to meet their growing family’s needs. Works included a rear extension and a loft conversion.
Although the building owner was aware of their obligations under the Party Wall Act, they had left the process until the last minute, commissioning us to serve notice just three weeks prior to the intended start date.
To negate the need for the project to be delayed, one of our surveyors, Matthew Price, prepared and served notices on the affected adjoining owners and, when they responded, concurring in his appointment as the agreed surveyor, undertook a schedule of condition and served party wall awards in time for the building owner’s works to proceed.
The building owner was thankful for our speedy and diligent service “under huge time pressure”.Read the full review
The clients contacted Peter Barry in need of a party wall surveyor for a rear extension at the end of terrace property in Wimbledon SW19.
As it often the case, they had the desire to complete the process quickly as they have found a contractor who had availablity in 3 months time.
Senior party wall surveyor Matthew Price was appointed, and by working closely with the neighbours early on, secured an agreed surveyor role, meaning that the award was served within the required 3 months.
The client was satisfied enough to leave us a review, and commented ‘A very efficient and friendly service’.

Wimbledon forms part of the London borough of Merton sitting just above Raynes Park and south-east of Richmond.
Wimbledon Common, part of a trio of commons in the wider area, is the area largest green space. To people of a certain age, the common will forever be associated with the litter picking pointy nosed Wombles who were celebrated in the 1970s chart hit and TV show.
The primary entertainment venue in the area is the Grade II listed New Wimbledon Theatre. The venue has 1,670 seats spread across all three of the floors and offers a year-round mix of plays, comedy and music acts culminating in the popular Christmas pantomime. The theatre was designed by Cecil Massey and Roy Young in the Renaissance style but, unusually, houses a Victorian Turkish bath in the basement. Local families will also be drawn to the Polka Theatre on The Broadway which, as well as putting on regular plays for young children, includes a toyzone and playground.
Wimbledon Station, located on The Broadway, has 11 platforms and is the last stop on the District Line (Zone 3). It also forms part of the South Western and Thameslink lines as well as connecting with Tramlink services.
