Recent Activity in Snaresbrook E18

After withdrawing from the purchase of a property that our surveyor David Breeze had previously inspected, one of our clients returned to us with the request of another Level 2 Homebuyer Report, in which the inspection was for a two-bedroom, purpose-built flat located in South Woodford, E18.

Since David had also inspected the previous property, he was able to advise the client that this flat would require far less maintenance, within her capacity to manage. In contrast, the other property had significant issues, including major damp and condensation problems, as well as the potential presence of asbestos in the kitchen ceiling.

Although the new flat wasn’t in perfect condition, it only required minor maintenance, such as improving internal ventilation and renewing mastic seals on the windows and bathroom fittings. Overall, this made it a much better investment choice for the client.

About Snaresbrook

Snaresbrook is located in the London Borough of Redbridge to the north-west of Wanstead and bordering Walthamstow to the west.

The building which currently houses Snaresbrook Crown Court is one of the more interesting in the area. It was designed in the Jacobean gothic style by George Gilbert Scott and William Bonython Moffatt and completed in 1843. It was built at the behest of the philanthropist Andrew Reed and its original use was an orphanage. The foundation stone was laid by Albert, Prince Consort in 1841.

The area is well served for green space with Leyton Flats, at the foot of Epping Forest, located at the top of the High Street. As you enter the park the first thing you see is Eagle Pond which is one of the locations used by Swan Rescue for the release of swans cared for after injury. Fishing the lake is no longer permitted.

Snaresbrook Station, located on the High Street, sits on the Central Line between Leytonstone and South Woodford and connects with the City in around half an hour.
