Most people think of the football club when you mention Millwall but their current stadium, the (new) Den, is actually in Bermondsey and they’ve not played on the Isle of Dogs since 1910.
The district known as Millwall is located on the western and southern side of the Isle of Dogs. There was significant development in the area through the 1980s when it became part of a development zone. Millwall is bordered to the north by Canary Wharf and so has fantastic transport links with both DLR and London Underground stations within walking distance.
The oldest pub in the area is the Ferry House on Ferry Street which dates back to 1722. As it was the point where the ferry to Greenwich could be boarded back as far as the 1300s it’s possible that there was a drinking establishment of sorts on the site even earlier than the Ferry House.
The Space is a theatre located in a former Presbyterian church on Westferry Road. As well as live performances, the venue puts on workshops and provides performance opportunities through their participatory theatre project.
