About West Ham
West Ham is an area to the east of London in the borough of Newham. It sits just north of Plaistow and south of Forest Gate.
West Ham Football Club are named after the area but now play at the London Stadium, built as part of the 2012 Olympics, which is a couple of miles to the west.
The largest green space in West Ham is its eponymous park located to the north of the area. Facilities include the ornamental gardens, children’s playgrounds, and various sports pitches/courts.
There’s a little bit of history tucked away on Leather Gardens to the East of Abbey Road in West Ham being the location of The Ironmongers’ Stone. It’s a Grade II listed 18th century border stone marking the edge of the property once belonging to the Ironmongers’ Company.
West Ham Station forms part of the Jubilee, Hammersmith and City and District tube lines on the London Underground.
