RECENT ACTIVITY IN KINGSTON UPON THAMES

We were contacted by a homeowner in Kingston upon Thames regarding works proposed by their neighbours. The properties comprised of a pair of semi–detached houses in the style typical of the inter-war period. Their neighbour planned to convert their loft into habitable space.

The adjoining owner was not overly concerned by the works but wanted a detailed record in place as they were in the process of selling their property. They were happy to use a single “agreed” surveyor in order to keep costs down. The job was passed on to our senior surveyor William Weaver who visited the property to consider the works and prepare a schedule of condition.

The party wall matters were concluded smoothly with the service of an award which reduced the risk of damage to the adjoining owner’s property as much as reasonable possible. The works are currently ongoing.

KINGSTON UPON THAMES

Kingston upon Thames boasts a comprehensive network of social, recreational and shopping amenities with a good representation from major retail outlets. There is also a bustling daily food market around the historic Apple Market area and a vast choice of Restaurants and Pubs.

A wide variety of entertainment venues are available including a cinema at The Rotunda Centre, the acclaimed Rose Theatre on the High Street near the River, its own local history Museum and a busy nightlife.

There is a fine choice of outstanding schools situated across the Kingston. Travel options around Kingston are exceptional with Kingston and Surbiton Rail stations providing fast links into London and further afield. For the motorist the A3 provides easy access in to and out of central London and to the M25.

Both of London’s major airports, Heathrow and Gatwick International Airports are within an easy commute. Kingston, is well served with open spaces, such as Canbury Gardens on the River Thames, Queens Promenade, War Memorial Gardens, Fishponds and over eight recreation grounds.

The parks in neighbouring boroughs such as Richmond, Bushy, Hampton Court and Wimbledon Common are all easily accessible from Kingston. There are also some excellent cycle routes around Kingston, a number of Golf Courses and various river based sports including rowing and canoeing clubs.
