Our team of specialist party wall surveyors have been advising owners in Leyton for decades. Whether we are dealing with an extension that incorporates a wall at the boundary or a loft conversion with a rear dormer, our focus is on finding a fair balance between the building owner’s desire to complete their works as quickly as possible and the need to minimise risk and inconvenience to adjoining owners.
The process starts with the owner who is proposing to undertake work falling within the scope of the Act notifying any affected adjoining owners. Owners can prepare their own notices, but as they must include certain specific information and be served in a particular way, we’re often asked to do that for them.
Below you will find links to the hundreds of positive reviews we’ve received from both building owners and adjoining owners in and around Leyton. Call today to take advantage of our expertise.
We were contacted by the owner of a Victorian terraced property in Leyton whose neighbour was planning a rear extension.
The job was assigned to our senior surveyor, William Weaver. The building owner had served his own notices to save money and was keen for William to act as agreed surveyor on both sides. William therefore contacted the neighbour on the other side to confirm how they wished to proceed. Both neighbours were elderly and one had poor English skills but William worked with them both to explain the process and reassure them regarding their rights. They both subsequently agreed to appoint William, saving the building owner several thousand pounds.
William visited both neighbours, checked the drawings and revised the notices to make sure they were correct. Awards were served on all parties and the fee was further discounted by combining the visits on the same day. The building owner was very pleased with the outcome.
